Release the Kaizen!: Stories and Poems from an Evolving Writer
March 8, 2021
"Kaizen" is a Japanese term that refers to on-going or continuous improvement. Typically applied to business practices, author Brandon Everett applies this philosophy to writing, suggesting that with anything in life, one can continuously and gradually improve. To illustrate this concept, he has curated several short stories, flash fiction pieces, and poetry that span the breadth of his career, pieces that improve in quality, illustrating that gradual improvement is totally accessible. -- "Baxter is coming home, angry with his father…but a sudden accident makes him come to grips with his feelings…and a deep-kept secret…" -- "Sid is woken from a drunken sleep by his neighbor Todd, who is desperate to have Sid fix the stairs in his house…and to see the mysterious purple glow that appears at the top of the stairs from time to time…" -- "Roland Bachman has been on the case of the Rabbit Killer for months with no leads and no direction…until a mysterious suspect found at the scene of a murder claims to know Roland and will only speak with Roland…a man with tusks...and a haunting message…" -- "Hannah is shocked when a man is found hanging from a tree not far from where she is sitting in the park…but a little boy knows something about it…a boy only she seems to see…"
"Must read!!! This book is a work of art. The author varies his tone and approach per piece. I can see it being used as a book for an English class in high school or college." - David, Amazon user review
The Undoubtedly True Narrative of the Yetiman
March 24, 2020
Could a random painting of an Antarctic landscape from a missing and discredited conspiracy theorist confirm the existence of YETIS? Self-proclaimed truth-seeker and comic book shop owner, Ross Dyson, seems to think so. In fact, he KNOWS so. Nobody believes him, of course, not even his best friend, Pastor Barney Cross. However, this doesn't deter Ross from following through on his desire to get to the truth. With the help of his toothpaste-snorting shop manager Wheezy— coupled with gargantuan claims and a fiery resolve—Ross sets off on a journey of discovery that begs to question the fabric of reality and how one perceives truth. This quest ultimately leads to an Antarctic adventure that may...or may not...have global ramifications.
